October 18 | Royal Caserta & Apulia

After breakfast, there is an opportunity to visit the impressive Royal Palace of Caserta (Reggia di Caserta) – one of Europe's largest palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The grand halls and enormous park bear witness to the power and ambitions of the Bourbon dynasty. After some free time for lunch, we continue south towards Apulia, where the landscape gradually changes to olive groves and whitewashed villages. In the evening, we arrive at our hotel, La Chiusa Di Chietri, where we will stay for several nights. [ B, L ]

October 19 | Alberobello & Polignano a Mare

The day begins in Alberobello, known worldwide for its distinctive trulli houses with cone-shaped roofs. We stroll at a leisurely pace through the historic quarters and have time for photography, small shops, and café visits. After lunch, we continue to Polignano a Mare, dramatically situated on cliffs high above the Adriatic Sea. Here we enjoy the view, the atmosphere, and have time for coffee or ice cream before returning to the hotel. [ B, L ]

October 20 | Ostuni & Cisternino

We visit Ostuni – the white city, which rises high above the landscape. The whitewashed houses, winding alleys, and views of the sea make Ostuni one of Apulia's most photographed places. In the afternoon, we continue to Cisternino, a small and authentic town that is considered one of Italy's most beautiful villages. Here we encounter everyday life in Apulia, far from mass tourism, with time to stroll at our own pace. [ B, L ]

The ancient cave dwellings, carved directly out of the limestone, have been used for thousands of years and give the city an almost timeless feel. We visit caves and churches and hear about Matera's dramatic history – from poverty to cultural capital. After an eventful day, we return to the hotel in the early evening. [ B, L ]

We leave Apulia and travel north. On the way, we stop at the enigmatic Castel del Monte (UNESCO) – an octagonal castle from the 13th century whose
exact purpose still baffles historians. We then continue to
Naples, where we check in at Vergilius Billia in the afternoon and get a first taste of this lively and contrasting city. [ F ]
